The rules of the game are as follows: comment to this post with a list of your characters. Other players will provide constructive criticism and positive feedback. You do the same because community is built on reciprocity, we are told.

While we would prefer everyone be honest and open with each other and we would hope you'd feel safe voicing concerns, anonymous commenting is permitted. However, moderators will be moderating; we don't have any marshmallows, so we don't want flames going on here. Wanking is forbidden. If you don't have anything nice to say, phrase what you do have to say politely.

That said, please don't post here if you don't feel able to handle constructive criticism. A well thought-out, helpful critique can be a wonderful thing and shows that people care. When you're critiquing others, try to be specific about what works and what doesn't, as that can be very useful for pinpointing what a player should keep and what a player should let go.

Commence!

Aha, yes. But he's used to insults! You know, if Brax really wants to throw Narvin, all he has to do is give him a (sincere-sounding) compliment, and he'll be completely at sea.

As that requires 1) sincerity, 2) directness, and 3) complimenting, I suspect that, should Brax try, he would choke on his own words and die on the spot.

[identity profile] helical.livejournal.com 2010-10-27 11:26 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, it doesn't need to be actual sincerity! Narvin would be astonished just by the idea of a compliment, pretend or not. Poor guy.

[personal profile] semantics 2010-10-27 11:26 pm (UTC)(link)
...OH MY GOD THAT IS SO PATHETIC.

I think someone needs a hug.

[identity profile] helical.livejournal.com 2010-10-27 11:32 pm (UTC)(link)
It reeeally is. But then, coming from Brax and their running animosity, a compliment really would be something unusual. And slightly frightening.

In some dark, secret place very, very deep inside him, an eight-year-old Narvin really wants a hug. Possibly from Benny, because she was nice to him.

[personal profile] semantics 2010-10-27 11:35 pm (UTC)(link)
rdutyuhilyktytjdrtfghj don't move in on Brax's girl THAT IS SO CUTE and metaly he will never live it down.

[identity profile] helical.livejournal.com 2010-10-27 11:38 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh man, now I want to make that an experiment after the plot's done. Itty-bitty Narvin! Jealous of an eight year old, Irving? And he will have Convenient Amnesia when he's grown back up.

[personal profile] semantics 2010-10-27 11:39 pm (UTC)(link)
if he says yes, is it justifiable homicide? Very Convenient Amnesia that Braxiatel will never believe.

Don't think he won't holorecord it.

[identity profile] helical.livejournal.com 2010-10-27 11:53 pm (UTC)(link)
No, Irving. Killing eight year olds is bad. Even if they do grow up to be irritating Coordinators.

That's blackmail, Brax!

[personal profile] semantics 2010-10-28 12:44 am (UTC)(link)
what about using eight-year-olds to kill other people?

No, it's part of his mandate: to preserve the past and in doing so safeguard the future.

[identity profile] helical.livejournal.com 2010-10-28 12:56 am (UTC)(link)
That's bad too, especially when they're your best friend's son.

Narvin promises to find his way back on Brax's Collection to destroy that holo.

[personal profile] semantics 2010-10-28 12:59 am (UTC)(link)
He did it out of looooooooooooooove---oh god he has a Time Lord's idea of love

Braxiatel would respond with long monologue about the development of print technology in Earth's history and how it affected what it meant to keep a text alive, but what he really means is that Narvin can't destroy the holo when Brax has duplicates.

[identity profile] helical.livejournal.com 2010-10-28 01:50 am (UTC)(link)
He really does. Time Lords suck at love. Possessiveness, on the other hand...

That's what Braxiatel thinks. Narvin is totally bluffing.

[personal profile] semantics 2010-10-28 01:54 am (UTC)(link)
You mean possessiveness isn't love? That's going to come as a shocker.

Yes, yes it is what he thinks. And he still thinks it.

[identity profile] helical.livejournal.com 2010-10-28 01:59 am (UTC)(link)
It does to most Time Lords. Does he really want to compared to Rassilon?

It would be such a shame if Narvin had to breech all of the Collection's defences in order to get each duplicate.

[personal profile] semantics 2010-10-28 02:00 am (UTC)(link)
ewwwwwwww no Rassilon tried to do crazy things to his little bro

The lengths to which Narvin claims he would go to retrieve the copies only proves what value they are. And Braxiatel can't help that, as a collector, he hates to give up valuable things.

[identity profile] helical.livejournal.com 2010-10-28 02:16 am (UTC)(link)
He is also first among possessive bastards. Don't be a possessive bastard, Brax!

Just wait. Narvin's going to start carrying around a holorecorder, so that when something inevitably happens to Brax, he'll be ready. Maybe he'll catch another breakdown; something to show the Council if they ever think about rescinding Brax's exile.

[personal profile] semantics 2010-10-28 02:23 am (UTC)(link)
He's a collector. It's in the job description!

It is telling in a tragic way that Narvin considers his child-self's desire for physical affection to be equivalent to a psychological breakdown inspired by the assorted pressures under which Braxiatel works. So sad, so sad.

THAT IS SO ADORABLE! Benny might have to give him a hug now just to wind him up, because it's fun to do that to Time Lords.

[identity profile] helical.livejournal.com 2010-10-27 11:43 pm (UTC)(link)
He will lineface at her. :| Unless I turn him eight as an experiment, and then she might become his new best friend.

[identity profile] melissa-228.livejournal.com 2010-10-27 11:44 pm (UTC)(link)
Awwwwwww! Well she thought eight year old Narvin was super adorable! They can totally be bffs. And then when he's a grown up again she'll torture him mercilessly about everything and anything he does in eight year old form.

[identity profile] helical.livejournal.com 2010-10-27 11:54 pm (UTC)(link)
Between Benny and Brax, he'll never have a shred of dignity again, will he?

[identity profile] melissa-228.livejournal.com 2010-10-27 11:55 pm (UTC)(link)
Dignity is overrated. And seriously, out of all of the Expanded Universe characters, do any of them have a shred of dignity left?

[identity profile] helical.livejournal.com 2010-10-28 12:59 am (UTC)(link)
This is true! But Narvin likes to pretend he has it. And he says please don't embarrass him in front of his President, Bernice. He'll never recover.

[identity profile] melissa-228.livejournal.com 2010-10-28 02:43 am (UTC)(link)
Bless him. Now he's starting to sound like Brax!
