happy halloween :)
October 31st - November 7
Starting on Halloween, the Plane is having another power shortage. As a last-ditch effort to prevent people from falling into the darkness between time and space, everyone will be transported to the Plane.
Welcome to total darkness. Much like blackouts before, even the stars and galaxies have gone out. The only light you'll be able to find is what you can conjure yourself, either with magic, a flashlight in your purse, or by lighting a candle. Even the auras around characters have dimmed and faded.
Your character will not be able to leave the Plane for the duration of the plot.
A few new areas of water have appeared on the Plane, and they're more than leaks. There's water at the beach, a small lake in the middle of the forest, and one more pond in the vicinity of the old black hole.
And the water has attracted... something. Sensitive to light, these new humanoids are few in number but incredibly strong. About eight feet tall, they are pale and lightning fast. While they may not have magic powers, they could arm-wrestle a superhero. They usually attack by surprise, then either drown the victim or kill by snapping the neck. They also have a penchant for clawing out eyeballs, so that's a thing. They are solo predators, preferring to ambush stragglers rather than face groups head-on.
There's one good thing: they really hate light. So if the area is well-lit and dry, you're probably all right.
Characters traveling alone and without a light source will probably die. Characters traveling alone with a candle still run the risk of being attacked. Characters carrying around a battery-powered spotlight are your best friends (at least until the battery runs out).
If you are going to have your character killed off, please remember to fill out the death form!
If you play a super godmode character, you are free to attack and try to kill one for SCIENCE!!!!!! If one of these creatures is seriously injured, they will flee toward the nearest body of water, so you must be quick.
This is a game-wide plot. There is no opt-out.
However, you are free to sit out the nastiness by having them hide in the library or the movie theater until the stars turn back on. These places have small energy backups from the last time the Plane lost power, mostly in the form of torches and candles, but it's enough to keep the monsters out.
The bar and the kitchen are not safe, however. We suggest you don't go out alone if you want to bring back dinner, rather than become it.
After about a week, the stars will flicker and turn back on. At this point, the monsters will flee into the black hole, and your characters will be free to move around as usual.
