...and I recoil from what the first hint of autumn means.

"It always started in September."

Have you heard the gossip lately? Have you seen the news? Samantha from down the street has gone missing. Timothy from next door up and disappeared.

Granted, those might not be their names. Your character might be from a world where a minimum of three xs are required in a name! But the above is still the same. If your character keeps up with town gossip, or keeps an eye on the news, they may see/hear reports of one or two people having gone missing.

"We were braver and bolder then."

So what does this mean for you? Nothing, not really! Not unless your character wants to investigate. Or maybe whoever went missing was someone they vaguely knew; a co-worker, their favourite server at Starbucks, a librarian friend they discussed literature with...

Participation (read: acknowledgment) is entirely optional. Don't want to get involved? Your character just hasn't seen the news or heard any gossip, simple as that.

As well, while I mentioned what seems to be only minor characters above, you may use important NPCs if you like. But be warned: whatever might happen to them while they're missing is permanent. If you don't want to risk something happening to a character who exists canonically/is an important NPC, feel free to run with some of the examples above (or anything else you can think of).

If you have any questions, feel free to ask away.

Or that annoying father and son combo who came to look at the vase, and I'm also tempted by the guy at Yomiuri television who dragged Mouri, Ran and Conan into the Seance murder case -- geez, I watched it just last night and have forgotten the name already.

Anyway, for my memory as much as any other reason, girl who works in Poirot is Azusa Enomoto, and her brother is Sugihito Enomoto. The obnoxious father and son don't seem to have been named, although Haibara never met them, so maybe we should forget them and go with an acquaintance of the Professor's, and the TV dude is Yatsukawa-san.

An acquaintance of the Professor's it is then! This is an excellent plan.
