IMPORTANT MOD ANNOUNCEMENT PLEASE READ
Hello everyone! (This is Saffy.) I hope you're all having a great August. It's starting to wind down and school is starting back up, so we're heading into the more inactive part of the year.
I'd actually like to sit everyone down and talk about the game, as a whole.
RS opened several years ago. In a world where most games live maybe two years at most, RS has somehow chugged along with occasionally zany events, forever backtagging, and a subtle dash of horror. The playerbase has shrunk quite a bit, however, and the pace of the game is slower now than it's been for... uh, ever. It's actually kind of worrying.
I know this game is important to a lot of people. I'm doing everything I can to try to keep plots interesting without overwhelming everyone, and I still have a lot of stuff planned. But backtag friendly as we are, it seems like there isn't a lot of new blood coming in or a lot of posting and tagging out going on. I admit I'm guilty of this, too. Basically, the game is dying a horrible slow death and it's kind of painful to watch.
So here's the deal: Dero and I were talking and we thought maybe we should change the activity check and actually... uh, require activity.
Here is what I'm proposing.
In the span of one month:
• One post in the main or logs comm OR
• At least five comments made by your character in either comm.
These numbers are negotiable!
There would be no date requirement, so you could theoretically just keep backtagging a log forever, as long as the tags you submit fall into the month-long AC period. I'm thinking you can use multiple threads for the comment count too, just to keep things simple.
Honestly, this is just to get people tagging more. (Again, me included.)
I didn't want to spring this on people without some warning, so I'd like your feedback. If you think this is impossible for you and you want a lighter AC, or maybe you have some more ideas, etc etc just put it in the comments.
I'm giving it a week-- if you guys are overwhelmingly screaming NO, then me and Dero will talk about alternatives.
