(no subject)

Misunderstood Servant seeks accepting Master for retrieving magical artifacts, magic, and if things go really really well, a relationship.
Must be intelligent, enjoy scheming long talks, and be tolerant of blood.
Magical prowess a plus.
Greek mythological figures need not apply.

On a more serious note, I am applying for a character who needs some help essentially as soon as she gets here! But to decide how to deal with her canon being a bit wonky, I need help from the players first before I can figure out what to do with her. Caster from Fate/Stay Night is a being who is essentially a ghost, but to adapt her best for a RP setting, she will need a Master---That is, a character that will be able to provide her energy so that she can sustain a physical form. Basically, she needs energy to live. Oh, and she's Medea. Yes, that Medea.

So, if you're familiar with the series, Caster will effectively be summoned to the Plane by Meredith/The Twins, but they will not be her Master, if I go this route. Instead, she'll be given a higher Independent Action than she normally has, and will be able to exist on the Plane for about two weeks without a Master.

If you're not, Caster is a "Heroic Spirit"---that is, a legendary soul of a hero 'reincarnated' as powerful, almost godlike beings called Servants to fight alongside mages, their Masters, for the chance to win the Holy Grail. A Servant needs a person to supply them with magical energy so that they can exist at all, since they are pulled from a dimension where all these souls are stored, essentially. So Caster will need a Master on the Plane!

If you'd like to volunteer a character, there are requirements because of canon, though they can be manipulated slightly. The most important, though is some magical background. A perfectly normal human cannot be a Master under any circumstance. However, even if it was like your great-grandfather had a limited knowledge and talent with magic, that's good enough. Psychics also fall into the realm of magic by canon, and I'd say even Time Lords would be able to be Masters. It's also helpful if they have some similarity to Medea, though this is as broad as to just get screwed over by "fate" rather than being a murdering bastard. Otherwise, Caster will not exactly like her Master, which can be problematic.

For the character, there are two things of note:
- They will notice an energy drain. As long as Caster isn't fighting, it won't be a huge amount, and if they're powerful, magically, they likely won't notice it at all.
- A symbol will appear on the back of their hand (second row, third column). This is a Command Seal. This is the way that the Master can control their Servant. The Master is able to issue three orders to their Servant that the Servant absolutely cannot refuse. When one is issued, part of the seal will disappear.

For Caster herself, she will not reveal herself as Medea until after she finds a Master, for the most part. And Caster is not going to be acting the part of Medea like in the story. That's a part of her history, and I don't want to write out her application here, haha. Essentially, Caster isn't going to kill her Master without a very very good reason, and she will defend her Master's life if it's in danger. In addition, because Caster has no reality, after about a month or two after her introduction, she'll get a full merger with her Master so that she can actually get a reality to interact with.

This is all terribly complicated, I know, but alas it is the canon. If you have questions, please ask! Otherwise, volunteer your character(s) here if you're interested at all! I'll have to see which characters apply (obviously), but I'll be narrowing down who the Master will be by who I think Caster is going to be most likely to ask for help from.

... dangit, that sounds so super awesome and I wish I could think of a reason either of my boys would let themselves get attached to someone like Caster. As it is, I wish you luck in finding someone suitable. <o/

Aaaaahhhh, if only my characters would be involved...!

I love the canon, and all of that sounds awesome. ♥

I'm going to do this like elimination rounds and see what turns up at the bottom. IT AMUSES ME TO DO SO.

So, people that will probably be in the game by the time you app Caster:

Supergirl
Braxiatel
The Master
Scarecrow
Satoshi
Sebastian

Do you have magic/psychic abilities? If Y, move on to the next level. If N, drop from the game.

Braxiatel
The Master
Satoshi

Would you be opposed to being commander of a potential dangerous being of great power? If Y, move on to the next level. If N, drop from the game.

Braxiatel
The Master

(It would be the Time Lords that survive the 'how power mad are you?' question)

Are you married? If Y, move on to the next level. If N, drop from the game.

ALL HAVE LOST THE GAME.

the comparative round!

Do you care if your spouse would be angry at you for this? Please explain.

Braxiatel - is married to collection of stuff, so it's okay
The Master - is married to two people, but he can ignore both of them

Do you enjoy bloodshed? Please explain.

Braxiatel - not completely opposed to it; ie, is willing to wipe out an entire team of archaeologists + an entire court of people to protect his Collection (later, will be willing to commit genocide and start interplanetary wars for it)
The Master - "MORALS BLOODSHED? I LOVE BLOODSHED!"

How about scheming? Please explain.

Braxiatel - Irving Braxiatel does not fight or flee. Irving Braxiatel schemes.
The Master - almost every appearance revolves around this

Yeah, but are you good at it? Please explain.

Braxiatel - the only person who can make "a Cyberman army will protect my Collection" a feasible plan
The Master - somehow felt that preventing the Magna Carta from being signed was a good idea for villainy

Have you been screwed over by the universe? Are you angry about it? If Y, move on to the next level. If N, drop from the game.

The Master - 1) Rassilon and his goddamned drums, 2) the Goddess Death condemning him to fail at life forever, 3) Does the Doctor being an jackass count?
Braxiatel - 1) Evil dead Imperiatrix named Pandora living in head, FML, 2) After the Fifth Axis invasion, Y x 1000

Do you WANT a powerful spirit in your world? If Y, move on to the next level. If N, drop from the game.

Braxiatel - has been known to put the lives of friends and family in danger to legally/illegally acquire super rare magical beings who can be used to defend his Collection
The Master - "BLOODSHED POWER? I LOVE POWER!"

The question format is failing me.

Brax would keep her forever and actively seek her out, while the Master might get bored and would not pursue her. But the Master is more of a bloodthirsty monster then Braxiatel is, because Braxiatel tries really hard not to be a monster. (But he fails.) Psychically, they might both be a problem. The Master's mind is partially in the Doctor's, so that could get complicated. But with Braxiatel, I might need to shut down his psionic abilities to keep Pandora from spreading to the other Time Lords. They wouldn't be gone, but they would be completely sealed in his head.

And technically, they're both descended from a group of people who practiced magic. They're just also both descended from a group of people who decided that the people who practiced magic suck and must die. Except I hate the Pythia thing because it's so sexist.

ANYWAY. They are possibilities if you do not find better people.

...I don't actually have any characters for whom this would be a v. good idea, I don't think, but I'm procrastinating, so!

I have the following characters:
Jim Kirk (d2)
River Tam (d1)
Third Doctor (dn)

ELIMINATION ROUND ONE: make a fort.
- Jim makes a fort of sticks. It holds up in easy-to-moderate weather. Jim passes to the next round.
- River makes a fort of pillows. It is comfortable and warm. River passes to the next round.
- Three makes a fort using complex theoretical physics and some string. It is capable of calculating pi to the hundredth digit. Three passes to the next round.

ELIMINATION ROUND TWO: cook a romantic dinner.
- Jim burns the spaghetti, but gets extra points for presentation (you don't want to know). Jim passes to the next round.
- River makes an attractive fruit bowl. It is romantic in the context of her timeline. River passes to the next round.
- Three looked just so damn adorable with flour on her nose that the judges gave her a free pass without tasting her food. (Which is good, because it wasn't technically compatible with human taste buds.)

ELIMINATION ROUND THREE: divine a secret
- Jim fails to guess either Three or River's secret. Jim does not pass to the next round.
- River not only divines the secrets of her fellow players, but also makes semi-accurate predictions for their future. River passes to the next round.
- Three apologetically pokes around in her fellow players' minds for a bit and accurately locates their secrets. Three passes to the next round.

ELIMINATION ROUND FOUR: pass a mental health test
- River is institutionalized by the psychiatrist. River does not pass to the next round.
- Three is declared to be suffering from delusions of being an alien life from another planet. Explanations to the psychiatrist result in his being institutionalized. Three passes to the next round.

ELIMINATION ROUND FIVE: take over a planet. Alternatively, just accept my offer of joint benevolent rulership already! Honestly, Doctor, is that so hard?
- Three foils all your plans and receives a lovely box of chocolates and an exceptionally-planned death trap.

Thank you for playing Survivor: The Master's Edition! Tune in next week to see the [community version of Character A] vs [community version of character A] special!

It so wouldn't work just because of her canon

but the idea of Suiseiseki being a Master for once makes me laugh

I'd actually be willing to volunteer Sol for this, though I don't know how well they'd get along. Anyway, her qualifications are:

- She has a lot of magical ability. In canon, Sol was actually described as having "surpassed all known human limits" though she's not really human, so there's that. Though a significant portion of her magical ability is suppressed and unusable in most situations, it's still there, so Caster could easily feed off that.
- Sol is a bounty hunter, so bloodshed? Not a problem. In fact, though she's not normally a murdering bastard, there are a few people she would not hesitate kill in cold blood if she had the chance which will be very relevant in a couple of weeks when I canon update her :Db.
- Canonly known to be highly intelligent, specifically in the areas of genetics and theoretical magic.
- Fate has dicked her over. A lot.
- Ttly gay. Rly.

Other things of note:

- The gameplay in the 3D GG game revolves heavily around (playable) Masters and their (CPU-controlled) Servants, so while she's not at that point in canon and this isn't really the same thing, the connection kind of makes me smile.
- I have a crack theory involving one of the aforementioned people Sol would like to kill really being Medea, so, again--tee hee.

Just out of curiously I'll see how well this would work with my characters:

Shion - Wouldn't be at all interested.
Yuri - I doubt the Master/servant thing would work with his powers.

So, that leaves Shun, Firesong and Dino

Shun - Would volunteer if he thought he was helping in some way. He can use cosmo, and is a bit of a psychic himself. Of course he's also has a god trapped inside him, so I'm not sure how that would affect things.

Firesong - One of the most powerful magic-user in his world but he probably wouldn't want to get involved in this.

Dino - I'm actually not sure if he would be Master material or not. He can use the Dying Will Flame to summon a his flame horse to fight for him, but I'm not sure how much of that is actually his own abilities. It might just be him being able to channel his own will through the ring he wears. He is a Mafia boss and isn't opposed to necessary violence but he also won't do anything that could put his family in unnecessary danger.
