Whodunnit? Plot

The bad feeling that some residents are experiencing will come to a head next month. Why? It's rather simple, really—

—people are going to die.

The Deaths
Plane residents will discover themselves murdered in various gruesome ways. Some of them will die on the Plane itself, and some will die in their homeworlds. Each death will provide a clue pointing to the perpetrator.

The Clues
The thing is, not all of the clues will be legitimate. There's someone playing with the victims and the people trying to solve this thing, making it difficult to pinpoint exactly who's doing it. Several of the clues will be pointing toward a certain NPC.

It's up to players who they want to believe. There will be at least one post for players to mingle and exchange the clues they've found. Ambitious characters can bother the NPCs for answers, too.

Beyond that, you can tear each other apart if you'd like out of paranoia and distrust. But it's not forced.

The End
During the last phase of the plot, the puppet master will be revealed. At that point, it's up to players if they'd like to confront them directly or leave it alone. There will be another OOC post when this happens so we can hammer out the details.

Disclaimer
Signing up for a death spot requires you to do a couple things:

1. Consent to god-moding by the NPCs. One of the characters who signed up will be killing the others, but retain no memory of it for most of the plot. If you are chosen, PLEASE don't tell anyone about it. It'll ruin the fun.

2. Sharing the clues. You will be sent an email/PM/messenger pigeon containing the circumstances around your character's death. Your character coming back and sharing the information falls on you as the player.

You can still participate in any mingling/confrontation/whatever without killing your character off. This just applies to the sign up spots.

FAQ
What will my character remember of the murder?

Nothing, unfortunately. They won't know what hit them. There won't be any witnesses, either.

How will I be sharing evidence?

You will be able to choose if your character dies in their world or on the Plane. You can invite their friends to find the body and the clues, or have them delivered to your character via NPC in their world, or find the clues on their person when they wake up on the table.

My character is crazy and wants to make things worse.

Hey, I'm not against it. Just make sure you have the consent of the other parties involved before you kill them, obviously.

Is there anything special happening with these deaths?

Nope, it's being treated like any other Plane death. You'll get the PM, fill out the death form, then have your character wake up and be like OH GOD WHAT HAPPENED.

So I can't kill my character until their death is approved?

That's right. The plot doesn't start until mid-August, which gives you time to sign up, and time for me to send out notices.

If someone requests a death slot, do they have to do the death on a specific day or is there a little wiggle room as long as it falls within the overall timeframe for the plot?

Liiiiike, say you're interested in killing off your character but you will be at a con for the first weekend of the plot so you can't kill him right away. Can you do so once you get back?

That would be fine. The reveal will be going up only after all the other deaths have happened, so there is a time limit there. Just make sure you do it before the 28th or so.

When you say the murderer won't remember committing the murders for most of the plot, does that mean there will be something in place to stop guilty parties from spoiling it once they do remember?

Their memories will return during the reveal. At that point, they can have all the delicious consequences of realizing they killed their friends.

Another question! If a death happens on the Plane, can we assume that both the murder implements and the clue item will be with them in the shop for them to find?
